Button Bow Dress

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend :) We had a sunny, fun and food filled weekend here at diaper-mum's world. Weekend just disappears don't you think? I especially feel that about Sundays.
Got a bit of shopping done as the little boy is growing up fast and nothing fits him anymore Had to buy new dresses and even socks. Here is my Buzz lighter on Bullseye and also my little princess trying to scare her daddy.

 

 

I have been putting my hands in too many pies. Its partially in a cross-stitch i am trying to finish ASAP. Also here's a look at what i have been dying to try out - eye candy here and here. Need to buy fabric stiffener today for this. Also planning my next big blanket. Hopefully i would get the wool soon. In the midst of all this, i could not resist making a bow button shirt.

A really cute thing this is, just collect all your sample, stash buttons and think of any pretty thing like a bow or heart or a flower. Stitch the buttons on the line drawing and you are good to go. Love love having a daughter :)

 My son trying to grab some, i do feel sad that i don't make much more for him. Need to remedy that!

Little Miss Bag

Hope you all are having a great week and getting into the groove after the Monday blues.

Anyone familiar with Ravelry, blogging and Crochet would have definitely seen this bag. Also i m sure Tangled Happy gives all of us immense eye candy and loads of inspiration!! A hugggggggge thankyou to Sara for finding us so many things made with love and for all her patterns n ideas :))

Here is my version of the Granny Boutique Bag. I have increased the number of shells and also the rows to make a bigger bag as i used a 4.00 mm hook.

Especially love the rose. Can find the pattern here. Added a button from my stash to complete the look.

My little miss is off to school n needs to carry a set of spare underpants and yes she does need a handmade crochet boutique bag with love. The colors co-ordinates with her uniform colors - white n yellow. Liking the combination a lot myself. Here she is, all happy to get a new bag :)

Lined the bag with a really pretty skirt that i could not let go off. Love the ric racs n flower embroidery on it.

Pretty in Red

Good Morning my lovely people!

Hope you are having a pleasant  start to your weekend :)

It is getting hot and humid in Hong Kong and i am missing the cool and pleasing climate of my hometown Bangalore. For this summer i had crocheted a jacket for my little miss.

Ok ok !! i still have to stitch the buttons on :) But arnt the buttons sooo cute. No wonder we have the expression - As cute as a button!

The shrug/bolero/jacket is my own creation. I have used the lace pattern from mypicot.com. The link for the pdf is here. This is totally customizable. The yoke is the standard double crochet increases one. The cap sleeves have a picot edging.

Maybe it is one or two sizes too big. But hey, she will grow into it :)

 

Leaving you with some yummy cotton yarn i picked up from a store near my house. I dont know what make or company it is. Neither do i know what i am going to do with it. But it was too too pretty to pass. Any ideas on what i can do with it?

Summer Shopping - Part 2

Had been to Sham Sui Po yesterday. This place is truly amazing! I mean i can really spend weeks and weeks here. It has everything under the sun at very reasonable prices. You can find my earlier posts here.

I had to buy an external hard disk and a memory card. Golden Arcade is the best place for buying anything related to computer. Its a geeks world out there, there are rows and rows of computer peripheral shops and gaming VCDs shops. Purchased a Seagate External HD 1 TB for HK $870 and a high speed memory card 64 GB for HK $629. Crocheting a case for the HDD now.

There is something for everyone in Sham Sui Po. Be it computer/sports wear for men, craft/fabrics/accessories/street market for women and toys/clothes for kids. Ventured to the Yu Chan street for the usual round up of beads, ribbons and Ric-racs. Ready for a color feast?

As a craft loving mom i never know when i need these things, but hey no harm in storing them right? Sham Shoi Po also stocks wholesale fabrics. I used to wander past these shops never knowing that they sell stuff by the yard. It was close to 7 p.m. by the time i chanced upon one tiny shop selling a yard to a customer. That's when it hit me! They sell fabric too...Oh my god, there are rows n rows of yummy shops here which stock all kinds fabrics to buy from or just to feast your eyes upon. Since i ran out of time, picked up a few random stuff for i don't know what projects! Can you believe that i bought almost 10 yards of colorful fabric to play with for just HK $ 100? A revisit is definitely in the offing!!

Once i am back to HK after my summer hols I will surely be going here again :)
Till then i am going back to aimless crocheting, like the case cover as you know my mailman hasn't yet bought me those Stylecraft yarn which i am eagerly waiting for.

8-Petal Flowers

Where is it? Why hasn't it come still? I am wondering about the yarn which I have ordered from Ebay. You can find it  here. This yarn is really value for money. It is not very expensive but the shipping charges is more than the cost of the actual yarn itself! Oh, i really wish i was in UK now. And i had a bigger house or at least a cupboard just for my craft and yarns. Now i share a cupboard with banker's books, my kids clothes and suitcases :( Envy all the women out there who have the luxury of their own physical creative spaces.

So while i am waiting for my lovely yarn, i crocheted some flowers.

The inspiration for this is here.  I modified the pattern a bit to make the edging neater.

 

The other flower is in a granny square. I know the colors are bad but those are the only colors i have of Stylecraft. Waiting for the yarn (have i told this before?) 

My model got up very early Maybe to pose for me?
Cannot suppress her yawn tho..n no comments for the unmade bed. It was really early and the helper hasn't started her work yet.

T-shirt Makeover - Part 2

Girl.
Pink.
Flowers.
Buttons.

As a full time mom now, the creative space has become my outlet. It is said that an idle mind is a devil's workshop. Well with me, there is no time at all! There are so many crafts i want to try, to experiment and to put into good use.Having a little princess is every crafty mom's dream come true. You can pour all you art where your heart belongs. And nothing gets better than this :)

So this is the second makeover DIY Project. The first one is here.
I wanted to try ribbon embroidery for this t-shirt. Also had a huge stash of ric-racs and decided to combine both of them for this piece.

The centre flower is actually a sun-flower pattern. I have done it in polka dotted ribbon. Looks like polka dots is in these days, i see them everywhere. On shoes, hats, caps, dresses, frocks, tops, socks..you name it and it is there. So here's my version of Polka dotted sunflower

This was a ric rac in shades of pink. Did a simple running stitch through the edges of light pink shade first. Pulled the thread, plugged in a button and sewed it on to the shirt.

Did the same thing but from the darker shade of pink this time for a different effect. Added the white flower and the wooden ones on request of my girl. Hey! Its her shirt, she can pick a few mismatched stuff right?

This sunflower really looks good, tho i feel a good deal of credit does go to the ribbon itself. It was just too beautiful not to be in my ribbon stash! Stitched on a few leaves using this pattern.

I really should get back to my rug/blanket now. Its looking at me and i am feeling very guilty that i have side-tracked it. But the shirt looks soo pretty now, waiting to see her in it!

T-shirt Makeover - Part 1

Sewing projects are fun. Mainly because they get done in a few hours and there are so many things you can do with a needle.I don't know know to use the machine, maybe will learn it one day. But for now, can manage with hand sewing itself. Picked up a few plain t-shirts from Mother Care for the Little Miss.

One aimless day, when i was browsing, i came across this DIY project. I knew i had to had to had to do it for her!

Cut out a 5hearts, made up a buttoned flower on the go. Used simple back stitch to attach four of the hearts in the front of the fabric. She was waiting on her toes for the heart t-shirt. It was all done in under an hour and here are the results.

 She has to make sure that mamma has had a good click.

..and the fifth heart is on the back of the t-shirt.

One happy hearty t-shirt. One happy girl and one happy me :)
