Puff Flower Crochet Bag

Sometimes there gets an idea into the crafty head...

It stays there, getting bigger and bigger...

Until you HAVE to have a go at it..

The idea challenges you, daunts you, teases you and commands you...

You have to drop everything, pick up your hook and yarn scraps...

Hook away at it :)

Browsing thru Pinterest i found THIS and had to try it out..I saw this bag and i had to have a go..I combined the flowers from this bag with this gem of idea from Pierrot Yarns HERE.

The puff flowers are from Mollie Makes can be found HERE.

Altered it to suit my needs a bit..
So you can see, a real lot of mix and match to come up with something i really wanted :)

Stitched it all up to form a small blanket... Don't you think this would have looked cute as a little doll's blanket?

Lined it before making it all come together..

Added a bit of crochet lace to increase the girlie, handmade feel a bit..

And here is my proud, little, cute, handy, girlie, vintage-y, unique bag...

Ta-daaah!!!

Normally when i go out for small errands, pick up my girl from her school, or take the little man out to park in my apartment the only things i carry are my wallet, my house keys and my phone. These cannot all go into my jeans pocket, plus it is tooo hot here to wear jeans now!

So you can see, these things fit cozily into my new bag.

You guys want to have a look at my phone cover? He he he... Love the Russian dolls, aren't they too cute:)

A magnetic button for added cohesive-ness..

My (un)willing model.. She wanted to play with her brother's engineering kit.

That's it she said and off she ran..

My heart sings tra-la-la-la-la...
When ever i look at my bag!!

Hope you are having a fab weekend and do write in as i love reading your sweet words :)
Love...

Kusudama Flowers Wreath and a new craft love

Hello my dear friends and fellow bloggers!!

How are you guys, i am really missing all the fun and action of blogging thanks to my domestic crisis...but but the end is near..i have less than a month to go now till i can craft more and hook even more! My giant granny blanket is still waiting for me patiently and i am just controlling the urge to put everything else down and have a go at it...**sigh**

Anyways...coming back, are you guys getting sucked in the Christmas Festivities and Jolly Season? Though our family does not celebrate this festival as per our religion i always enjoy this festival. I studied in a convent school and we used to have Christmas plays and i used to soo look forward to those events. Also the carol singing part was my favorite! Times have changed and now i am an adult and a mom so i enjoy the discounts and the sales. Best time of the year to pick up great deals in HK. My favorite brands all on 50% off and the whole decorations and lights makes me cherry and happy. Also the weather is getting colder here, ideal for lotsa n lotsa crocheting therapy! Just missing a fire:)

My girl's school had a christmas hanging 3D decoration competition and this is what i came up with!

These are the Japanese Kusudama Flowers. Done from paper - Origami is my new craft love. It is really amazing what you can do with paper. I rarely do paper craft these days as it is a bit difficult with toddlers around. But stayed up one night and finished this. This was originally my mother-in-law's idea and i am happy to have been able to execute it. I had lotsa fun making this wreath. Did the flowers by following the instructions HERE.

Made a wreath base from therm-col sheets.  Wrapped the base in brown stretchable crepe paper. Did the flowers and pierced a hole to glue them on the wreath. Tied 2 bows and lo and behold! A simple and so beautiful piece. You must try these flowers. They are very very addictive :)

Let the festivities and shopping begin! Have a great season ahead and much more to come!!

Circle Motif Bunting

Hello my lovely people!

Hoping this post sees you guys in good spirits. A warm welcome to Charlotte from Charlotte's Web and also Kara from Petals to Picots.

Weekend is just around the corner and tomorrow is my better 1/2 's birthday :) Yes he is now gonna be as old as me...he he. Have been racking my brains on a suitable gift which does not include clothes, books, electronics or food. Lets see what i can get excluding this... my little girl has something ready for her Papa. Will post it tom, after he also sees it!

Else, i completed my motif bunting as you can see below.

The little people have been having a go at it and hence its way above their reach now. Adorning the curtain panel, i must say i am damn pleased with the look in my bed room now :)

A few close-up shots of the bunting. Used chain stitch and hooked up the motifs at 2 points per motif using a SC.

As for my real flowers, here they are..

in full bloom - divine fragrance and a sight to behold :)

Parting shots of my new bunting. I AM!

Hope you guys have good plans for the weekend, hooky wise and otherwise!

Pretty in Pink

Hello my lovely people,

Hope you are all having a terrific Tuesday so far.

I have been fascinated by these flowers. The pink stargazer lily.

You can read more about this flower here. The fragrance of this flower is so delicate and romantic. It fills the house with a freshness which can only be felt. This flower is quite popular in Hong Kong and i used to see people buying it all the time. But i never indulged in them. Then once i have bought these home, i am hooked!

Will post more pics once they are in full bloom.

I did a quick crochet project today. A super addictive butterfly pattern can be found here.

Fluttered on to Little Miss pink corduroy trousers. Added a cute button and the pant is nicely accented i think. Benefits of a stay at home mom who is crafty and blessed with a little angel :))

A sneek peak into my next work. Its not crochet. It is cross-stitch. Hope i can remember enough to do this right!!

A big THANK YOU to Sir Vai. Gopalakrishnan for this award. Please find his beautiful and informative blog here. Thanks for always finding the time to visit me and leave me lovely comments. Encouragement comes from people like you!!

Keep well and keep happy.

Magical Mondays

I know i know, there is nothing magical about a monday, especially as it comes after a weekend!! But read on..

A good day to all my dear friends :)
Welcoming my new blogger friends -

Rajeswari Jaghamani from http://jaghamani.blogspot.com
Melissa Richardson - welcome into the daiper mom's world
Global nomad from PigTails - please teach me how to click photos! love all your snaps on blog.

This means i havn't blogged for a while now :) But its soo good to meet new people and make friends and learn about different cultures and people all over the world. Isn't it magical? So isn't the monday magical?

Finished this table mat come square doily. Toyed with the idea for a while and decided on making this a square table piece, used 3 different patterns from my favorite book of blocks - you can read about it here.

Loved working all the 3 blocks. But especially enjoyed the Light and Shadow blocks. It is such a simple pattern done in 1 color but has such a special look about it. Magical isn't it?

Found my new favorite granny pattern - the center piece. Maybe i will use this block pattern for my next big blanket project :)

My son's most used toy. The joy of small things i must say - yes its magical :)

Not my usual bright colors. Wanted a sober look so that i could high light the flowers on top. Used a simple shell border to finish things off..

Here are the flowers and my old fashioned phone. That has to be ignored :)

My lovely girl, with lovely orchids :) Magical isn't it??

Pretty flowers for all my lovely readers! And my helper is back after her day off and it makes it the most magical as i don't need to attend to house hold chores and can sit back and blog and connect with the world after a work filled weekend :)) Magical!! Bring me my cup of Tea now!!!

Lots of love,

Hope you all are having a great week and getting into the groove after the Monday blues.

A warm welcome to my newest friends - Renia from Simplymami, Barbina from Little Things Made with Love - you have a great blog and love your colors and your crochet items!  Begonvilli Ev from Crochet at begonvilliev - awesome link party you have over there :)  and Lehman1947 - Please let me know your blog so that i can link up!!

Anyone familiar with Ravelry, blogging and Crochet would have definitely seen this bag. Also i m sure Tangled Happy gives all of us immense eye candy and loads of inspiration!! A hugggggggge thankyou to Sara for finding us so many things made with love and for all her patterns n ideas :))

Here is my version of the Granny Boutique Bag. I have increased the number of shells and also the rows to make a bigger bag as i used a 4.00 mm hook.

Especially love the rose. Can find the pattern here. Added a button from my stash to complete the look.

My little miss is off to school n needs to carry a set of spare underpants and yes she does need a handmade crochet boutique bag with love. The colors co-ordinates with her uniform colors - white n yellow. Liking the combination a lot myself. Here she is, all happy to get a new bag :)

Lined the bag with a really pretty skirt that i could not let go off. Love the ric racs n flower embroidery on it.

Parting shot of the bag which i am loving and thinking of making a few more with other colors :)
