Framed Motif

Hello and good morning to my readers from all parts of the world. Hope you have overcome the Monday and heading strong into the week!!

As i said in my previous post, i am getting back to the Beyond the Square Challenge.
A look at my new motif..

Motif #6 for you from CIRCLES.

We have a Living Plaza here, similar to $1 store. Picked up this lovely wooden frame from this store. They have a variety of frames in different wood colors and also in white and blacks. Definitely going back for more. Don't you think this flower looks super cute in this frame?

A peek into Motif #8. This one needs blocking for sure. Here it is, pins holding it in place. Will post the blocked motif tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone and i am all gearing up for a big day tom!

Happy hooky time,
Love,
xxx.

Where's my hook??

and this is why its missing :)

Hello my dear bloggers!!
The last few days have been very busy, lots of traveling was done, kids had to settle down in my mother-in-laws place and get adjusted to the hot weather of Gujarat. With monsoon looming large but no rains in sight, it has been an energy sapping summer here. Having a teething almost 1 year old does not help :(

But its been good, sit back to a quiet life, where there is no traffic and where there are no malls and to enjoy the pleasures of a small town. Currently i am in Junagadh, located in Gujarat. The city is located at the foot of Girnar Hills. A view of the hills from the house.

My little miss decided it was high time we strolled out. So i had to oblige and take her out for a stroll and some toy shopping. A view of our walkway..

The popular mode of transport is seen in the above picture. Here was our transport for the day. As my miss said, "Mamma what a bumpy ride!!".

The only hooky related activity i have recently done is buying this book.

Go ahead and feast your eyes and the color candy available courtesy Amazon from here !!

A thousand possibalities are swimming in my head at the moment..Ahh for some 'ME' time...
Here's wishing every crafty mom some colorful, free, 'ME' hooky time...

Home Sweet Home

It has been a long long week, one which saw us visit as many as 3 cities.
Summer is officially on in India. We arrived in Bangalore and had to immediately leave to visit a great spiritual and Sanskrit leader, Jagadguru Ramanandacharya in Chitrakoot. The only thing bad about this entire trip is the road to Chitrakoot. It is a 7 hour journey from Lucknow and Lucknow also isn't well connected to other cities in India. But nevertheless we all set off.

The weather was boiling hot and road isn't the favourite mode of transport for my little girl. Exhaustion took its toll and it was only when we reached the cool cottages of Arogya Dhama that we smiled and relaxed! This is a wonderful place, an unexpected heaven situated on the banks of the river Mandakini.

A very spiritual experience it was for me on the personal front. Banker is a devout follower of Guruji and I could not help but fall in line! Guruji is an amazing person, person being too small a word. You can find more information about his noble works and insights here. He is probably the most learned person in Sanskrit and also the most most humblest soul i have ever met. He played with my little boy with such eager enthusiasm as a small child..In hind-sight maybe it was his blessings that gave me my second bundle of joy :)

The only downside of this trip- Our Nikon broke!! I really do miss my camera. Bought a new Canon IXUS but it does not come anywhere close to Nikon. Have to still get it repaired.

Photos of our visit will probably come up in my next post, once Banker reaches HK and sends it across.
Till then we have to bear with this...

The Little Miss at the camera shop in Mantri Mall,Bangalore

Part of my yarn stash, purchased from Lucknow. This is for a new project whose humble beginnings you can see below.

The little ones, enjoying a cycle ride in their Ajji's house :)

One of my favourite site in my mom's house is hot strong filter coffee!!

The tools and the power to make this delicious coffee. Only a true south indian knows n misses this beverage.

That's it for now. More to come and loads of snaps hopefully in my next post.

Summer Shopping

The countdown has begun, we are all going to India for a long, summer, fun filled holiday. The trip will take us to many places and i will keep this space updated.

In India summers are really HOT. Had to pick up clothes for the 2 little ones. Fa Yuen Street is the best place for kids clothes, bags, shoes, accessories and craft punches! It is mostly a local market, not frequented by the tourists. Also there is no bargaining, which is good for the likes of me. And they don't sell the knock-off LV purses and such stuff. All in all, a great place to shop.

I picked up many clothes for kids at throw away prices, dint click them.

These are the travel kits.

and the hair clips to go inside them. They have it in a zillion colors and patterns!

for her twinkle toes :)
clips n more of them. Now i am feeling maybe i bought a bit less:(
Gift bags too..
A few of the punches i bought. This isn't my entire stock.

Well a happy sunny Saturday afternoon it was.

On the crochet front i am feeling very lazy to end the wave stripe blanket. Have the last row of edging to be done. Already zeroed on my next hooky. Really lovely bit of work this pillow. Waiting for the mailman to deliver the goodness package :)

Shopping to-do list is still very long:

*Shirts
*Chocolates
*Perfumes
*More clothes :)
*Kitchen stuff
*Wardrobe stuff
**

Happy Sunday and hoping the sun stays smiling till i leave HK.

Is it Spring?

What a glorious day! I am so so glad to see the sun, smiling down upon all of us :) There is something special about Spring. New hopes, fresh starts, flowers and happiness and liveliness. No wonder any happy person has a 'spring' in his/her step. Spring is my favorite season! It holds the promise of good things to come. It is that time of the year when you have to take a walk in the park, have to run behind your toddlers at the waterfront, have to stop and smell the flowers.

Well, i am not sure if Spring has officially arrived here, but yes, I can feel it in my heart. Its singing..la traallaaa...It may not yet be the vernal equinox of March 20 or 21. Its still 2 days into the month, but hey I am singing!!

The kid's park from my window. A brighter view.

I had to take a few clicks today. These flowers just make me smile. Banker does have a good choice when it comes to selecting home, wives..err..wife..;)

Yellow..sunshine..

 Aren't they all so gorgeous?
Love it!

Full of vibrant energy .

Yellow, pink, red and green. Happiness, health, youth and life!

My personal favorite.

This blog is heavy on pictures. Well, i did manage to get some hooky done too. Posting the progress
of my rug. It has Mr. Smiley sitting on it.

Currently at row #48

The tools - yarn and my favorite hook.

Well, that's it for now. My toddler and me are off for our walk. Here's hoping for a song on everyone's lips and a spring in each of your step:)

Wanted : Sunshine

One of the first things i do as soon as i log on to the world wide web is to check the weather in my city hoping to see the not so familiar "sunny" face. But no, just have to wait some more.

Here's a view of the Victoria Harbor from my cozy room.
Not a pretty sight. Hong Kong's skyline is supposed to be the best in the world. Well i see it daily from my house and let me tell you one thing, in this weather it isn't the best! Wishing for some sunshine therapy. Actually waiting, praying, hoping each day would be better put.

The rain did not spare the terrace garden, looks isolated even during peak hours.

Water droplets on my window. Am truly amazed by the designs each day and Little Miss loves to clean off the water droplets every morning.

This is a picture of an apartment close by, best shot what with the fog and rain.

Its in such scenarios that memories come to help. I remember one sunny day when we all visited the Peak. It was extremely windy and sunny too. Loved the warmth and basked in the sun while it lasted. My girl wore a very pretty flowery top. Made courtesy her stay-at-home mom :) The flower pattern was from here. This was a pattern for a pot holder actually, but i used embroidery threads and ended up with a cute flower for accessorizing a girl's top. Added a pink button and the effect was pretty neat.

Made up the leaves on my own

You can get the pattern for the butterfly from here
I tweaked it a little to make it smaller..and here's the entire stuff.

My doll wearing it now.

 Mamma enough she says!

Ending on a sunny note, the Peak during a sunny, splendid, wishfully awaited morning.
