Blue Waves Ripple - Ta-daaah!!

Hello my dear lovely readers!

How are you doing? Today i am really pleased to show you my Ripple Blanket. I have been in awe of Lucy's Ripple for ages..But somehow the ordinary ripple did not strike me as very special...I need a twist in everything i think..so when she did her Interlocking Ripple i knew i had to hook it..Thus began the process of deciding the colors for the blanket. After doing my Giant Granny Patch Blanket i was not very keen on this multicolor design in any form. It was at the same time that our guest room needed a new blanket as the old one was getting too ..uhhmmmm OLD! Then i decided that it is going to be a Ripple. I decided on this color palate.

Then started the process of rippling along..I began late in January.

and then here it is in February..

I have loved every moment of it!! It is very comforting project, everyone must always have a ripple on their hook i feel :) Sometimes it gets a bit boring as it is not much of a challenge but hey we are mothers, wives, working professionals, multi-taskers - sometimes we do need easy things to chill with.I used to plan my 10 rows in advance and just refer to my picture for reference.

So are you guys ready for the big moment....
...
.....

Here it comes!!!

Blue Waves Ripple Ta-daah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How hard it is to get a shot?? I stood on  a stool for this...yet could not manage a 100% shot

The border is something i am very pleased with. Simple and yet very elegant. I did not want any girlie finish..No shells or not frills. Something boyish but not just granny stripes..The border is from Border #42 from the book Around the corner by Edie Eckman. A must have book and you can read more about it in THIS post. Can you see how NEAT the corner is?? Thanks to Edie!!!

This blanket also has a lining. Honest recomendation - Line your blankets!! They are soo cosy and also i feel less chances of those toes getting into the crochet stitches..Especially the granny square ones..I used flannel blankets from Ikea for the same. They are very light and the washing instructions are same as the Stylecraft yarn. But do a test wash and then only stitch it. I used a simple hemming stitch to attach the flannel to my blanket..

Cannot get enough of this border!

My favourite stretch of ripple!

The week that was..

....filled with laughter from child's play.

...spent cozily and comfortably rippling away after the entire household was sleeping..

...crafty with the little miss who did not listen on my ideas of painting an octupus and did this on her own!

...exciting as my LYS had a sale on Sublime Merino and this is my new "posh" wool stash - a part of it..The banker does NOT approve of such bulk purchases :)

...creative as this little beauty of spring squares is going to become a Spring-Flower Jacket for my Little Princess..She is so excited about it and keeps asking me when i am going to be "stitching" more :)

And before we know it, the weekend is upon us!

Hope you guys had a fabulous week and here's hoping that the weekend would be even better.
Get happy, get silly and go have some fun!!

Love,

Things to ♥

Hello my lovely dearies!

Wishing you a very Happy Valentine's Day. Hope you share it with your loved ones :)
A honest confession from myside.. i have never been a romantic person at heart, tho the banker disagrees, but i never have read the Mills n Boons or any other romantic books for that matter. Neither do i do candle light dinners or the romantic songs. Like the suspense and murder mystery genre more :)

But i am happy to be blessed with people and things to love. Foremost are my 2 little ones. They mean the world to me. A caring and loving tolerating and supporting(he supports all my crafty needs) husband, caring parents and in-laws. Also all my friends whom i have met thru this wonderful blogging adventure.

I am also blessed with the ability to be crafty(i think i am right?). My love for yarn and crochet, my paper crafting love and in general getting excited at anything crafty love.

Ok, now to show you guys some color love...

There has been a lot of this sunburst goodness going around the crochet bloggerland and you can find the famous pattern HERE. I have used Laura Cotton thread hooked with a 4.0mm hook. For the base n sides i held a strand of Stylecraft Special DK n a strand of Laura cotton together for additional thickness and firmness. But still i need to shop for handles and also sew in a lining....ahhh... more to do so much to do and so less time!

My second crochet love - blue ripple blanket. Coming along nicely...

Oops... when did she get in here..off i go now to bake a cake.
Do leave me a comment as i love hearing from you guys...

Have a LOVEly day my dearests!!

Love,

Ripple Journey - The beginnings

Hello my lovely friends!

A good Monday morning to all of you and a special one to all my new friends whom i have met thru the "Grow Your Blog" Party! What as awesome event hosted by 2Bags Full. You can find more info on my sidebar Party Button. I am having so much fun visiting new blogs and meeting fellow crafters!

Ok, everyone is familiar with lovely Lucy of Attic24. Familiar is a stupid word actually..Awed, inspired and always looking forward to her ramblings and her lovely colorful peeps and yarn world. I have tried many times to look at her ripple blankets and then look away. Looking away.... But could not resist the temptation for a long time... Finally took the plunge when i saw her Interlocking Color Ripple Ta-daah. What a mesmerizing combination and explosion of colors. The interlocking ripples did me in, caught me unawares and i scummed.

My new pack of StyleCraft yarn! This time the blanket is a boy's one and i so regretfully passed over all the lovely colors and chose this pack. Blue is such a color - you either love it or hate it. I have always hated it as my school uniform was in blue. Every single day , except Sundays, i used to wear blue. So i can never really pick any blue dress..For a while i used to not even wear blue denims...he he! Having a boy changed that and now i have come to at-least respect the color..if not Love it..you know what i mean...

I started on my new adventure with 17 ripples. ie 17 * 14 + 3 = a foundation chain of 241. Approximately 60" in width. Should be good enough for a single bed and that's what it is for!
As i said, i have some to respect blues especially when these adorable shoes for my little man comes in that shade :)

Can you see the interlocking ripples. I have done 4 complete colors as of now. Its a total relaxing project, stitch after stitch, ripple after ripple...

LOVE IT!

What are you guys hooking/crafting today?

Love to hear from you as always..
